Urm, I'll explain politely, how things work here. BEWARE: People will post offensive things that insult your intelligence. Just thought i'd warn you. Basically, the IWAD is the main file in which all of the levels/textures/sounds/music, etc. Are stored for the game Doom. That is the file that comes with the main retail version of the game.
Alls Zdoom is is an enhanced EXE, so, it therefore requires the IWAD. You can't 'Legally' download the Doom IWAD, you must own a copy of the official Doom retail version (any retail will do, Doom 1, ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Plutonia and TNT of final doom. Even Heretic, Hexen and strife are supported. Although the strife support is still not complete). So, the sad fact is that if you don't own doom (or any other supported game) then you can't play doom.

Doom Shareware v1.9 is an IWAD for DOOM featuring 9 maps (Hangar, Nuclear Plant, Toxin Refinery, Command Control, Phobos Lab, and more).
This is why you will have the piss taken out of you. It's kinda logical really. Although, I understand that you might not have too much klnowledge of these things, so I'm trying to be kind (-er than most other people).

If you do have any of the Doom games, then just simply copy the file Doom.wad (or Doom2.wad/tnt.wad/plutonia.wad/heretic.wad/hexen.wad/strife1.wad. Depending on what game you have), and you'll be away in secconds. Enjoy the true power of one of the greatest Doom ports.
That is, if you own Doom. Hope that I havn't offended you too much, just don't take all that I say to heart and you'll just love me. One day, I may actually release something. Just to expand on that, not allowing mods to be loaded with the shareware version was a limitation introduced by id software back when Doom was still a current game. This was, of course, part of an encouragement for people to buy the full game. Most (all current?) ports still honour this convention. If you don't want to buy the full game, there is. It's not Doom, in as much as the levels, enemies etc are different but all the core Doom items/textures are replaced on a 1:1 basis so it can be used as a base to load Doom mods. If you're playing a mod that provides completely new content (i.e. Replaces everything in the game or only uses new stuff and ignores the Doom stuff) then playing with Doom or FreeDoom will be the same experience.
Of course, I'd still suggest getting the original games. They're not particularly expensive. Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.
